- What should an engagement acknowledgement cover?
- The scope of the work, the client's responsibilities, any limits or exclusions on the advice or service, and the client's confirmation that they read and agreed. A clear record of the agreed scope is your best defence against a later "that's not what I expected" dispute.
- Is this a substitute for a full contract?
- No — a consent or engagement acknowledgement documents that the client agreed to the stated terms, but a substantial professional relationship usually wants a full contract drafted or reviewed by your own counsel. Use the template to capture informed consent to the scope, not to replace legal advice.
